Lestage & Sejourne, Haiti

Update from Sejourne:

We received, without any further information, this video from the church in Sejourne! It is very exciting to see that they have a roof over their new church. Obviously this was a special occasion in Sejourne because the band from Les Cayes was there to help them celebrate.

Members of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Caro travelled to Haiti in December, 2017. While in Haiti they not only celebrated the New Year, they also celebrated with the people of Lestage and Sejourne. They got to witness the first wedding and the first baptism in the new sanctuary in Lestage. They also journeyed to the village of Sejourne to participate in the construction on their new sanctuary. Donations of clothing, health kits, tools, financial gifts, and more were also transported by the team to Haiti.

Eleven people from Michigan travelled to Lestage, Haiti on December 29th, 2016. While in Haiti they not only celebrated the New Year, they also celebrated with the fellow believers in Haiti. The expectation of starting the new roof of the sanctuary was far exceeded. The roof was totally completed, the floor was finished and they were in the process of stuccoing the outside of the church. Construction was not the only goal for this trip. We also: introduced two members of St. Matthew, Grand Rapids to the village of Sejourne, with hopes that they will adopt them and build them a new sanctuary, delivered gifts to the Haitians (we took over 1000 pounds!), invested in people as ambassadors of Christ, furthered the spiritual growth of the team members. We rejoice that we were able to see success on each one of these goals!

2015 Trip:

Official Motion:

In April of 2013, St. Paul in Caro officially "adopted" the Lutheran Church in Lestage, Haiti as our mission project.  Here is what we passed:

Motion for St. Paul partnering with Lestage

"Out of love for our Savior, Jesus Christ, and for the furthering of the Great Commission, let St. Paul partner with Eglise Evangelique Lutherienne de Lestage by:

  • praying for our sister congregation,
  • sending members on mission trips to support their ministry,
  • encourage the building of a new sanctuary where ministry may occur,
  • and (as we are able) financially support the training of professional church workers and the building of their new church sanctuary."
