Ready for Launch

10... 150 pounds of quilts
9... a backpack of banners
8... 11 willing servants
7... trusses ordered (and hopefully waiting)
6... $300 worth of Spanish Bibles
5... visits to the doctor, shots, pills all in order
4... an inspired Bible study written, copied, and ready for use
3... one excited congregation in Anapra, Mexico
2... untold number of prayers placed in God's hands
1... ready for Construyendo la Casa de Dios!!!

From May 5-16 we will be building a new church sanctuary for San Lucas Lutheran Church in Anapra, Mexico.
The sanctuary will be 50’ x 44’. We will also be distributing health kits, Bibles and World Relief quilts.

Anapra is a poor district of Juarez, Mexico and began as a "squatters village" over an abandoned city dump.

By equipping the church in Anapra we have an opportunity to impact a large community with the love of God.
We have been blessed, so that we can be a blessing to others.

When it was mentioned to Pastor Ruiz that there was a group that wanted to come and build the church…
The emotions that went through him and over his face were heart breaking. He got teary-eyed and looked like he wanted to jump up and down! His arms went up in the air and came down folded. He's been praying for a church in Anapra and now your group is here! I wish you could have seen it. I got goose bumps thinking about it. God is good.

A Special Weekend

This past weekend included Easter. And with Easter, the Sunday School children participated in our Sunday School addition in a special way. You see, we have this spot above our new entrance...

which needed something special placed in it. So I came up with this idea that the Sunday School children would make a special mosaic with a cross in it for that spot. And here they are putting that idea into action...

And here is what it looks like so far.

It still needs to be grouted with a light grey grout. That will weatherproof it and make it ready for instalation.

The ductwork is done, and Jim even put a little bow on our last piece.

Ed continues to work on electrical, while the rest of us are working on drop ceiling.

Three Directions

This week you will notice the number of things that are being ticked off the list of things to finish.
The ductwork is down to one particularly odd piece and one 6" take off to keep the hallway warm. Otherwise it is done.

That allowed us to start hanging drop ceiling grid. The classroom is as far as we can get it until we have the accordion doors here with their special track. Next Saturday we will start working on the ceiling grid for the entryway, bathrooms, and kitchenette.

Outside they were finishing up the brick. We have all of the walls done, with only one 12" pillar to finish before all of the brickwork is totally done.

Notice that big triangle? That is where we will be putting a special mosaic that the children will be making on Easter Sunday.
