One Down

We have one wall totally bricked! And does it look good! Two others, facing 81, have about 1/3 of their brick on.

With the mild weather we had on Saturday, Bob TerBush was able to finish the very front wall, albeit under some flood lights.

Inside we were able to frame 80% of the structural support for our accordion doors (which will divide off the classrooms, or can be pushed back to have one large open room), continue to run wiring for the fire alarm and phone, attach 2x2 furring strips on the old brick wall by the stairwell to support drywall, support the water line through the existing building, and modify the framing to accommodate the furnace system. All of these steps, except for the brick work, are to prepare us for insulating the building.

Our next workday will be Saturday, December 23rd.

Can You See The Difference?

It may not look like much, but a milestone has been reached.

We have begun to put brick on the outside of our addition!

It is not much, and we have a long way to go, but it is a step in the right direction. If we continue to get warmer days (the day this was put on was barely above freezing) we will continue to put more on.

And this metal box, which we hung in our addition, may not look like much, but this little puppy is what is going to keep us warm through this winter!

This is where our furnace will live, although we have to take it back down to install drywall.

We have also been busy stringing wire for our electrical, and for the fire alarm system. We'll continue down the same road this Saturday starting at 7:30.

A Little Bit of This, A Little Bit of That

Nothing happened this past week by leaps and bounds, but everything finished was progress and a step closer to being able to insulate our addition. We made six short walls.

We began running water and gas from the existing into the addition.

The brick has been delivered. Which leads me to a public thank-you to Dale Gusko and Quik-Start Towing. You see, the brick got delivered on Friday when it rained something like 2 inches. We've had a block truck, and several cement trucks on the front lawn without a problem. Not this time. The block truck couldn't get out and Dale came to our rescue. Without him se were kind of...stuck. Thanks Dale!
