CHRIST IN YOU... the Hope of Glory (Colossians 1:27)

God states clearly in His Word that Christ lives inside His followers. You may find this revelation from God hard to comprehend. That’s OK! The apostle Paul declares that CHRIST IN YOU is a mystery (Colossians 1:27). The only way you will ever be able to know about CHRIST IN YOU is to learn it from God’s living Word, the Bible. This important truth brings so much comfort to believers.

We will be exploring the wondrous glory of this truth in a sermon/worship series October 2, 9, 16, 23.

For this coming Sunday we'll answer the question: "Why is it necessary to have Christ IN us?" I'll give you some clues. There are six very good reasons all pointing to one Ultimate Goal. Please join us for some in-depth teaching from God's word that should have live-changing impact for you.

Who Knows What God Will Do Next?

It's interesting to me that mankind is often baffled by the works and ways of God. Interesting, but not surprising, that is. In Isaiah 55:6-9 God Himself declares that His thoughts and ways are not like our ways and thoughts. What is interesting to me is how often people EXPECT to be able to know what God will do next without seeking His will nor looking into His Word of promise.

Now look at what Isaiah 55:7 says God will do. "Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." No guessing here. No need to even ask what God will do in this case. Perhaps the question we should be asking is this, "Will the wicked forsake his ways? Will the evil man forsake his thoughts? Will anyone turn to the Lord?" That one's still up in the air.

God is always calling us to repentance and He is ALWAYS ready to forgive. More about this Sunday, September 18. See you there.

Hurricane Relief Efforts

If you would like to contribute to Lutheran World Relief for victims of hurricane Katrina, you will find information in your church mail box this Sunday. Thrivent Financial for Lutherans has committed to matching gifts toward relief and so your gift can give more. We continue to pray for all those who suffer because of this catastrophe.

I have made you a watchman... (Ezekiel 33:7)

God gives words of warning against sin and He also attaches his word of forgiveness for those who hear that warning and repent. This, of course, should not be a surprise to the Christian. What should AMAZE us is that God cares so much. We'll explore this on Sunday September 4.

Blessings!
Pastor Steele
